This is a post that will make more sense to those familiar with my Bulgarian blog. Otherwise, your time will be better spent on my recent posts.
All blogs must die
On March 24, 2007, I published my first blog post. 10 years later, I can say that this is my most massive success. It made it to the top 20 blogs list, and at one point it was the second marketing blog in Bulgaria. I have netted about 200,000 readers in the last 5 years, which is a tremendous audience for a casual blogger. More importantly, it helped me meet many great people.
But as I started communicating with marketers from all over the world, the same question popped over and over and over again. How big is your potential Bulgarian audience anyway? Why don’t you start a blog in English?
This year, it felt like I was facing a challenge – how to ramp up my content game? I had to decide if I was to completely ditch blogging and move to a different medium, or aim for a new audience. The latter made more sense. I feel very comfortable with the written form and I’m having a hard time to imagine myself doing video. Besides, switching to the universal marketing language works better. Not because of the potential clicks, but because it’ll help me meet many people who have richer experience than I do.
Here’s to new beginnings
Some time after my blog’s 10th anniversary and just before my own 30th birthday, it’s time to present to you Valchanova.me – a place for marketing, digital strategy, growth, and measurement.
I’ll continue in the same direction, writing about marketing and digital strategy. I’ll focus on the niche marketing topics I follow closely: content marketing, growth, and measurement. You can expect in-depth analyses, personal experience, resources, tools, and books fellow communicators might find of value.
I hope you’ll like what you find here and I’ll be honored if you decide to subscribe to my newsletter:
